Selected engineering

Systems built from the logic up.

Four projects across processor design, operating systems, FPGA development, and embedded control.

Processor architecture01

RISC-V Out-of-Order CPU

A Tomasulo-style processor that supports RV32I and RV32M execution.

  • Built a pipelined front end with fetch, instruction caching, decode, rename, and dispatch.
  • Used reservation stations and a reorder buffer to schedule work and retire instructions in order.
  • Created constrained-random SystemVerilog testbenches and debugged waveforms with VCS and Verdi.
  • SystemVerilog

  • RV32I / RV32M
  • Pipelining
  • VCS
  • Verdi
Low-level systems02

Custom Operating System

A monolithic x86 kernel with virtual memory, hardware interrupts, and terminal programs.

  • Implemented paging-based virtual memory and protected user-kernel transitions.
  • Programmed the Intel 8259 PIC and integrated keyboard and real-time clock drivers.
  • Added exceptions, system calls, persistent storage, and a simple file system.

Duck Hunt FPGA architecture showing input, game logic, and VGA output blocks
RTL and FPGA03

Duck Hunt on FPGA

A hardware recreation of Duck Hunt for the Intel DE10-Lite FPGA.

  • Implemented game logic and finite-state control in SystemVerilog.
  • Integrated mouse and keyboard input with VGA video output.
  • Checked VGA timing and state behavior through simulation and on-board tests.
  • SystemVerilog
  • C
  • FPGA
  • Quartus Prime
  • USB

Fingerprint access controller architecture showing sensor, microcontroller, and door output
Embedded systems04

Fingerprint Garage Access

An interrupt-driven fingerprint access controller for a garage door.

  • Ported fingerprint authentication code to an ATmega128 microcontroller.
  • Used UART communication and interrupt-driven control for reliable input handling.
  • Coordinated the enclosure plan, materials, and system construction.
  • C
  • ATmega128
  • UART
  • Interrupts
  • Embedded systems

Experience

Technical leadership in practice.

Clear instruction, reliable systems, and useful documentation.

Head Instructor

Code Ninjas · Arlington Heights, Illinois

Apr 2023 — Present

  • Lead programming and game-development instruction for K–12 students across JavaScript, C#, Lua, Unity, Scratch, and MakeCode.
  • Run classroom workloads that normally need two or three instructors.
  • Created technical guides that cut at-home learning time by at least half.
  • Maintain a 40-PC lab and reduced external IT costs by about $3,000.
